CURRENT TRAIL NEWS

Greetings fellow snowmobilers!  As of Jan 19 we now have plenty of snow and are grooming again.  Keep in mind that the home page of the web site is not updated every day although we try to keep the information on the site current and relevant.  We strive to update the “Trail Report” every day, even when there is nothing new to report and sometimes it might even make for some interesting reading.  Always check the trail report and our web cams at the clubhouse for the latest and greatest information.

RAILROAD GRADE NEWS

As of Friday January 27 the reroute of Trail 47 (Railroad Grade) is now in place.  It will be groomed regularly just as the rest of the system.  You won't see as many orange diamonds on this section as you normally see on our trails, but when you are trying to drill post holes in frozen ground, you don't use as many as you would in the Fall.  All of the major intersections are marked and directional markers have been changed.  Just follow the yellow brick (oops the white groomed trail).  Keep in mind that just because the trail doesn't run through Strongs, a quick 1 mile trip to the north will let you access food, drink, gasoline and motels.  Please help support our local merchants.  It has been a lousy winter for them so far.  Thanks to all who helped put this reroute in place.  Thanks to the Forest Service and the DNR for doing their part quickly and efficiently!  Thank you snowmobilers for your patience.  Now enjoy the trail!        

Wet Areas...

We have three wet areas on our trail system.  One is next to M-28 just east of the Hulbert Lake Lodge driveway.  The second is on the power lines along M-123 about a mile north of the intersection of M-123 and Strongs Road.  The third is East of Sullivian Creek Rd. (Forest Road 3131) on the way to Rudyard.  The groomers must avoid these areas early in the season until things are frozen down enough to support a groomer and drag.  (Don’t ask us how we know!!!)  Snowmobiles can usually navigate these areas but they will be rough until we can get the groomers across.  Remember the trail  through the swamp on the West side of M-123 north of Trout Lake is closed!!!  The trail now goes down the unplowed shoulder on the east side of M-123.
